LOUD Group Art Show - Newtown, Sydney

In May 2026 I had the opportunity to exhibit in LOUD, a group exhibition presented by GAS ART SYD in Newtown. Marking the gallery’s 10th exhibition, LOUD explored the relationship between art, sound and sensory experience bringing together independent artists whose works responded to rhythm, energy, music and the ways perception can collide.

The opening was exactly what independent art spaces do best: vibrant, welcoming and full of genuine creative energy. The gallery was buzzing with conversations between artists, collectors and curious visitors, while live music performances added another layer to the experience. With food, drinks and a room full of engaged people, it became more than an exhibition, it felt like a celebration of community and contemporary creativity.

One of the greatest rewards of exhibiting alongside talented artists is the exchange that happens beyond the work itself. Spending time with other creatives, hearing different perspectives and sharing stories about process and practice is an important reminder that making art can often be solitary, but exhibiting it never is.

A major highlight for me personally was selling both of my exhibited works to international collectors. One painting will be heading to its new home in Berlin, while the second is destined for Paris. There’s something incredibly humbling about knowing paintings created in my South Coast studio will soon become part of lives and spaces on the other side of the world.

For me, this remains one of the most rewarding aspects of exhibiting: not simply showing work in a gallery environment, but witnessing those pieces find homes with people who genuinely connect with them. Art begins as a personal process with long hours in the studio, experiments, doubts, breakthroughs and eventually becomes part of someone else’s story.

Seeing my work resonate internationally reinforces how powerful these independent gallery platforms can be. Exhibitions like LOUD create opportunities not only for artists to present their practice publicly, but for collectors and audiences to discover something unexpected and form lasting connections with contemporary art.

I’m grateful to the team at GAS ART SYD, the fellow exhibiting artists and everyone who attended for creating such a memorable exhibition. Nights like this are a reminder that art is at its strongest when shared and that sometimes the paintings travel even further than the artist imagined.
